PIRANHA (PACU). A nearly toothless relative of the man-eating fish of South America, the fish consumes algae and small fish.
On a morning in early August, 1980 Mike McDermott caught a 14-inch, 3.5 pound specimen in the MISSISSIPPI RIVER using stinkbait. Accustomed to water in the range of 70 degrees, the fish was in a weakened state when caught. It survived until 5:30 p.m.
