GIBBS, R. J. (Unknown--Mar. 1875) Gibbs came to Dubuque in 1857 and later was in charge of installing the Dubuque water works. He was also extensively engaged in the grain business here for many years and shipped the first carload of grain over the ILLINOIS CENTRAL RAILROAD. He died in March, 1875, leaving a widow and four sons, all living here.
