SCHERR, Bernhard C. (Dubuque, IA, Dec. 14, 1862-- ). The eldest of the seven children of Franz SCHERR, Bernard Scherr worked until the age of nineteen in his father's brewery. He then became a clerk in a retail grocery store, subsequently becoming his father's partner in that line.
In 1904 he acquired stock in the Hasler Grocery Company, then owning five retail stores. Six years later, Scherr purchased his establishment from the Hasler Company.
