County treasurer.  Kretschmer was elected county treasurer and served from January 1, 1902 to December 31, 1906. In 1907, he and his brother Herbert, joined Andrew Morrison in forming Morrison- Kretschmer Company.  When Morrison left, it became Kretschmer Manufacturing Company and later when the brothers bought out Tredway and Sons, the name was changed to [[KRETSCHMER-TREDWAY COMPANY]].  Kretschmer served as president of the corporation and in numerous civic and business organizations.

KRETSCHMER, Frederick N. (Dubuque, IA, Oct. 19, 1870--Dubuque, IA, May 10, 1936). Kretschmer , the son of Charles KRETSCHMER, finished his education in the Dubuque schools and then took a position with the GERMAN BANK and remained there until 1902.
