DUBUQUE JOINT STOCK BEER BREWING COMPANY. The Dubuque Joint Stock Beer Brewing Company was composed of Ambrose Gleed, Frank Brady, and A. Riechman. In 1868 these men purchased a partial interest in the KEY CITY BREWING COMPANY operated by Ignatz SEEGER for $24,000. The company operated the brewery until 1872 when Ambrose Gleed leased the entire operation and established GLEED'S BREWERY.
The Dubuque Joint Stock Beer Brewing Co. opened in 1870 and closed in 1873 it was open for 3 years. Breweries that are only open for a couple of years like this did not have a long time to produce advertising and collectibles so they tend to be more scarce than breweries with more longevity. As a Pre-Prohibition Brewery, any advertising items or collectibles are likely to be valuable and desirable to collectors as they tend to be hard to find. (1)
