CENTENNIAL COMMISSION. In 1876 the United States was planning to hold a major celebration of the nation's one-hundredth anniversary in Philadelphia. Mrs. Emily F. Ives was appointed by the centennial commission to canvass Iowa for products to be displayed. (1)
