KNOERSCHILD, John G. (Germany--Dubuque, IA, Feb. 12, 1874). Knoerschild came to Dubuque in 1854 and worked for Joseph GEHRIG at the JEFFERSON HOUSE as a clerk and table waiter. In 1872 he leased the Kaufmann House and renamed it the NEW JEFFERSON HOUSE. He purchased the property shortly before his death.
