In Becker came to the United States and worked in the Koehler & Lange brewery at Davenport, Iowa. He briefly moved to Rock Island, Illinois, but eight months later he returned to Davenport and for a year again worked for Koehler & Lange. He then moved his employment to Wertmuller & Ande, where he remained as foreman for nine years. In 1888 he came to Dubuque and for five years was employed in a similar capacity in the GLAB BREWERY...."
