WILLIAMS, Thomas. On September 2, 2016 it was announced that Dr. Thomas Williams, a Dubuque oral surgeon, would receive the 2016 Presidential Achievement Award from the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons. (1)

Williams came the Dubuque in 1973 to open his practice. He held collegiate academic positions at the University of Iowa, University of Illinois, New York University, and the University of Texas in Houston. These positions provided him opportunities to publish papers, help author textbooks and expand his clinical research. He served as an examiner for the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and served as the organization's president from 1997-1998. (2)

Dr. Williams' experience was shared outside the United States as he performed cleft lip and cleft palate repairs and taught oral and maxillofacial surgery in Columbia. He also performed surgery in the Philippines. (3)
