WILD, Robert J.
WILD, Robert J. (Dubuque, IA, September 19, 1929--Dubuque, IA, Aug. 27, 2010). A graduate of LORAS ACADEMY in 1947, Wild enlisted in the Army.
He returned to Dubuque and graduated from LORAS COLLEGE with bachelor's degrees in medical technology and biology and from the University of Michigan with a master's degree in health care administration.
For nine years, he was employed by FINLEY HOSPITAL (THE) and for fifteen as the administrator of the Dubuque Blood Bank Association. He was instrumental in 1978 in the merger with Badger Regional Blood Services and served as the associate administrator of Badger Blood Services until his retirement in 1995. He also served as president of the Tri-State Blood Bank Association and twice as the program coordinator for the American Association of Blood Banks.
Wild was active in the BOY SCOUTS serving as a Cub Scout leader and later as leader of Boy Scout Troop 19 in Dubuque. He was also the program coordinator and served on the board of directors of the Northeast Iowa Council of Boy Scouts. Wild received a scholarship to the Boy Scout Ranch at Philmont, New Mexico to study ways of implementing Scout programs at a local level.
In 1996 Wild was asked to secure four trucks to transport part of 250,000 pounds of grain and fertilizer, a gift from Iowa, from Kiev to Stavropole. In 1997 the DUBUQUE CHAMBER OF COMMERCE asked him to organize a Sister City Committee to associate with PYATIGORSK, Russia. He was the chairman of the first delegation to that city in 1998 and eventually made six more trips to Russia with medical and pharmaceuticals.
