WAPLES, Marshall H. (Dubuque, IA, July 3,1841--Dubuque, IA, Mar. 5, 1907). Waples returned to Dubuque in 1868 after completing his medical education. He served many years as the county physician and a member of the Board of Health. Hoping to aid his father's failing health, Waples convinced him to return to Dubuque from Philadelphia.

Waples, son of Peter WAPLES, served as president of the Dubuque County Medical Society and for ten years was the Commissioner of Insanity for Dubuque County. In 1878 the Dubuque Herald reported that the doctor was wiring together a human skeleton which had been uncovered recently during an excavation. It was speculated that the finished work would be displayed in his office. (1)
