VIRGINIA-CAROLINA CHEMICAL CORPORATION. Virginia-Carolina began in 1895 when guano, bird droppings, were imported into the United States from islands off the coast of Venezuela. The company's expansion led a branch of the firm being located in Dubuque in 1947. It started with a crew of twelve. The Dubuque plant made fertilizers for farm, garden and lawns. (1)
The 1957 through 1964 Dubuque City Directory listed the end of E. 7th.
