VICTORY BOOK DRIVE. A national campaign organized in 1942, the Victory Book Drive was intended to collect 10 million old books which would be of interest to men in the armed forces. At the end of the collection, all the books would be distributed by the American Library Association, American Red Cross, and the United Service Organization (USO).

Cartons for book collection were placed in ten locations in Dubuque in addition to the "reception areas" of all public and parochial school and one at the Dubuque Library.
