TRAUT, George E. (Rickardsville, IA, June 29, 1914--Dubuque, IA, Nov. 23, 1977). Traut was a deacon of FIRST CONGREGATIONAL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST, moderator of the Eastern Iowa Association of the United Church of Christ, and member of the American Legion. He served as its vice-commander and post commander in 1952 and post service officer for eleven years. He was a member of the 40 et 8, its Chef de Gare Grand Chef de Gare and Cheminot National in 1975.

Traut held membership in the DAL Building Corporation of the Dubuque Post of the American Legion and was past chairman and current secretary of the Dubuque County Commission of Veteran Affairs to which he had been appointed in 1957. He served as president of the Iowa Association of County Commissions of Veteran Affairs and was the second district director of the Iowa Association of Veteran Affairs.
