TIGGES, Wayne. (Dubuque, IA-- ). Beginning his stage craft at STEPHEN HEMPSTEAD HIGH SCHOOL, Tigges attended Iowa State University for his undergraduate vocal music degree. He earned his master's degree from the Cincinnati Conservatory of Music and then went to the Lyric Opera of Chicago's Young Artists' Program.

A bass-baritone, Tigges has performed at The Metropolitan Opera in New York, San Francisco, and Chicago, the Royal Opera House, Glyndebourne, Paris, Barcelona, Madrid, the Saito Kinen Festival in Japan, Munich, Genoa, Tuluz and with most of the world's major symphonies. In 2014 he considered his debut at the Metropolitan Opera and his lead role at the Paris Opera to be among his best in what is becoming an impressive career. He has yet to reach the age when basses reach their best "voice." When visiting cities, he often will be free masters' classes at local universities.
