SUTTER, Heidi (Heiar) (Dubuque, IA-- ). While a student at WAHLERT CATHOLIC HIGH SCHOOL, Sutter earned eleven major letters in cross country, track and baseball and was a state qualifier eight times in three sports. She was All-state in track her junior and senior years and in cross-country her junior year. In the 1990 state track meet, she set a school record at 3000 meters. She won three Distinguished Academic Awards in cross country and was selected to the Mississippi Valley All-Academic team. Sutter was named Army Student-Athlete and was the recipient of the Gailen P. Thomas Award.

Sutter received a scholarship to the University of Northern Iowa for cross country and track. At U.N.I. she earned seven varsity letters and received the University of Northern Iowa George Miner Outstanding Freshman Student Athlete Award.

In 2011 Sutter was named to the Wahlert Athletic Hall of Fame.
