Stuart, Hugh. (Dubuque, IA, July 10, 1878---Dubuque, IA, Mar. 8, 1942). Stuart worked as a reporter and city editor for the TELEGRAPH HERALD from 1896 to 1903 when he entered the University of Iowa law school. From 1904 to 1907, he served as telegraph editor of the Iowa City Republican.

Graduating from law school in 1907 as the class president, Stuart served two terms as county attorney from January 1, 1915, to December 31, 1918.

After leaving office, Stuart went into partnership with John W. KINTZINGER. At the time of his death, Stuart was serving a four year term as district court judge.
