STEELE CAPITAL MANAGEMENT
STEELE CAPITAL MANAGEMENT. The Steele family’s legacy in the financial services industry began in 1946, when Don T. Patrick Steele began his career as a financial adviser. Five of Steele's six children followed him into the financial services industry. His son, Mike Steele, became one of the nation’s most respected advisors.
In 1994 Kevin Timmerman joined the Steele organization to provide clients with investment and estate planning services. In 1996, Kevin and Mike established Steele Capital Management, Inc. as a Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) and began providing investment advice on a fee-only basis; a relatively new concept at the time. In 2002, Steele Capital Management added 401(k) administration and record-keeping to its service offering.
In 2010 Steele Capital Management managed over $1 billion for both individuals and company sponsored retirement plans, and provided daily record-keeping and administration to over 175 retirement plans. In that year only 17% of registered investment advisers nationwide managed more than one billion according to Financial Planning magazine. In addition to Dubuque, Steele Capital Management had offices in Des Moines and Minneapolis. The company was listed by Barron's magazine as among the Top 100 Independent Financial Advisors in the four previous years.
