RYDER, William J.
RYDER, William J. (Dubuque, IA, Nov. 28, 1924--Dubuque, IA, Oct. 29, 1997). A graduate of LORAS COLLEGE, Ryder worked as a private detective for the Chicago Railroad and later served as a Dubuque County Deputy Sheriff for ten years. He then worked at the TELEGRAPH HERALD as a writer and editor. He also served as a editor of the DUBUQUE LABOR LEADER. He retired as a parole agent for the State of Iowa in 1986.
Ryder was a past president of SAINT VINCENT DE PAUL and a member of the Dubuque County Right to Life.
