RUNDE'S CUSTOM UPHOLSTERING. William "Bill" Runde had experience in the upholstery business before opening his own company. He had been a seasonal employee at FLEXSTEEL INDUSTRIES, INC. and had worked for a local car dealer.

In 1959 Runde opened his own business offering complete upholstery service for any use or surface. In 2010 the company's history included work done on restoring or refurbishing antiques, automobiles, motorcycles, and snowmobiles with leather, vinyl, cloth or carpeting.

The 1962 through 1972 Dubuque City Directory listed 2349 Elm.

The 1974 through 1987 Dubuque City Directory listed 80 Southern.

The 1989 through 2010 directory listed 3170 Cedar Cross Court.
