ROBINSON, Howard L. (Dubuque, IA--Cleveland, IN, Dec. 12, 1897). One of three sons of M. S. Robinson who operated an agricultural implement establishment on Main Street, Howard and his brother Stanley moved to Cleveland around 1877. Joining their brother Frank, they rose to financial success establishing a street car route in Cleveland and Fort Wayne, Indiana.

The three brothers acquired possession of the Cleveland "Spiders" in 1886. When Detroit dropped out of the National League in 1895, Cleveland took its place. Howard looked after the club's financial affairs.
