QUIGLEY, Charles A. (Dubuque, IA, June 6, 1862--Salt Lake City, UT, Nov. 15, 1927). The son of John P. QUIGLEY and his wife Margaret, Charles Quigley was educated in the schools of Dubuque. He moved to Utah in 1893 to assume charge of the business in Utah and Idaho of the Studebaker Bros. Company, now the Studebaker Bros. Company of Utah.

Quigley actively expanded the company. Branches established included Utah-American Fork, Spanish Fork, St. George, Vernal, Bountiful, Brigham City, Coalville, Heber City, Junction City, Logan, Mt. Pleasant, Morgan, Murray, Ephi, Fillmore, Ogden, Payson, Park City, Provo, Price, Richfield, Idaho-American Falls, Blackfoot, Idaho Falls, Mackay, Pocatello, and Rexburg.

The stock carried included all classes of farm machinery, automobiles, farm wagons, and electric trucks of all capacities. There were also electric runabouts and phaetons, gasoline touring cars, harness, and all kinds of light and heavy vehicles, for speeding or hauling, including drays and furniture vans, and a great variety of smaller articles.

Quigley was a founding member of the Salt Lake Commercial Club and was instrumental in organizing the club's traffic bureau. He served the club as president.

C. A. Quigley of Salt Lake Dies

Motor Car Distributor Proves Victim of Blood Poisoning

Salt Lake, Nov. 16,-Charles A. Quigley, who served 79 agencies in Utah and Idaho as distributor of Studebaker cars, died late Tuesday afternoon at a hospital here. Throat infection contracted five days ago brought on by general blood poisoning. He was 62 years of age and leaves a widow and two sons.

Mr. Quigley came to Utah in 1892 as temporary manager for Studebaker Brothers and remained in charge until 1914, going into the motor business.

When the San Francisco earthquake and fire occurred, he was president of the Salt Lake Chamber of Commerce and made a remarkable record in organizing relief. He was a charter member of the Elks' lodge and Alta club here and a former president of the Rotary club. Mr. Quigley was also active in the Salt Lake Country Club and Utah State Automobile Association. He was a devoted member of the Catholic church and belonged to the Knights of Columbus.
