POLLOCK, James
POLLOCK, James. (Sudbury, Ontario, Canada-- ). Born in Sudbury, Ontario but raised in Woodstock, Ontario, Canada, Pollock received his PhD from the University of Houston. In 2021 he was Professor of English and Creative Writing at LORAS COLLEGE, where he taught poetry writing, Shakespeare, Canadian literature, Greek and Latin classics in translation, and modern and contemporary American poetry. He lived with his wife and son in Madison, Wisconsin. (1)

The winner of the 2021 Manchester Poetry Prize, the United Kingdom's biggest award for unpublished literary work, Pollock used five, eight-line poems about a lighter, scale, screw, sewing needle and a microphone as subjects as his submission. They were part of a larger collection of "thing poems" he has written about everyday objects with plans of including them in a book. (3)
