PIONEER SAVINGS BANK AND TRUST COMPANY. Believing that their business was being hurt by anti-German feelings during WORLD WAR I, GERMAN SAVINGS BANK renamed itself the Pioneer Savings Bank and Trust Company in 1918. In 1919 the name was shortened to Pioneer Trust and Savings Bank.

On November 9, 1926 Pioneer Trust and Savings Bank merged with the CONSOLIDATED NATIONAL BANK. On January 1, 1927, the business records and employees of Pioneer moved to the bank offices of Consolidated at Main and Sixth STREETS. Less than six years later, Consolidated National closed, a victim of the GREAT DEPRESSION.
