OIL (used). A major contributor to groundwater and river pollution, used oil contains traces of LEAD and ZINC. The first used oil collection center in the Dubuque area was established by the Molo Big Ten Mart on John F. Kennedy Road. Opened on June 25, 1987, the Center encouraged those with used oil to pour it into their 4,000 gallon fiberglass tank. Collection at the station was made by a licensed and bonded oil company able to recycle the fluid.

Sister Catherine DUNN, president of CLARKE COLLEGE and a member of the Iowa Natural Resources Department, poured the first quart of used motor oil into the reservoir.
