NAGELE, Frank
Nagele, Frank. (Dubuque, IA, Dec. 30, 1905--Dubuque, IA, Apr. 11, 1979). Nagele served over twenty-five years as the president of Local 289, American Federation of Musicians. His work was occasionally dangerous with a death threat being issued once. Another time he was the person responsible for telling the leader of a big-name orchestra that it could not perform at a dance hall being boycotted for hiring non-union musicians.
As a leader of the labor organizing movement in Dubuque, Nagele was also a secretary to the Trades and Labor Congress for five years.
