METAL TRADES AUXILIARY. Interest in an organization began around 1939 with potluck dinners being held in the homes of those interested. The auxiliary received its charter from the American Federation of Labor in 1940. (1) Activities of the organization included building a defense fund in the 1940s and marching in Labor Day parades.

The 1939 through 1945 Dubuque City Directory listed 290 W. 4th.
