MCDONALD, Delos Lyon (Dubuque, IA, July 14, 1897-Dubuque, IA, Dec. 6, 1981). President, A.Y.MCDONALD MANUFACTURING COMPANY. President of the company from 1944 to 1959, McDonald served on the board since 1925 and became Chairman of the Board in 1960.
McDonald was a trustee of FIRST CONGREGATIONAL UNITED CHURCH OF CHRIST and served as president of the National Pump Association, DUBUQUE AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE, Dubuque Community Chest, and the Dubuque Council of BOY SCOUTS. McDonald graduated from Cornell University, Ithaca, New York in 1921 with a degree in mechanical engineering. He immediately began working for the family company.
