MARTIN, Hugh. (Ireland, Aug. 15, 1844--Unknown). Martin, one of ten children, came with his parents and family to the United States in 1855 and to Dubuque the same year. His first job was in the wood and coal business. He continued this as a career,

Mr. Martin was married twice; his first wife was Miss Rachel Strane, from Pittsburgh, Penn.; she died in 1876, leaving one daughter. His second wife was Miss Emily Laud, a native of Dubuque Co.; they had two daughters.
