LORENZ, Matt. (Dubuque, IA- ). Lorenz, a graduate of the UNIVERSITY OF DUBUQUE, began work at the DUBUQUE CITY HALL after working as a part-time instructor at the Area I Vocational-Technical School.

In 1973 Lorenz became Dubuque's first full-time director of the Human Rights Department. Under his direction the March Experiment was begun through which participating companies learned how they might solve their own discrimination problems.

On November 11, 1990 Lorenz announced he was leaving his post with the City. (1) He had recently opened Matt Lorenz and Associates to contract with governments, private attorneys and businesses to solve civil rights problems. His company would utilize a process he designed called TAP-team action process--to find underlying reasons for the failure of long-range plans and goals. The success of the strategy had meant being contacted by governments from around the world making for a working environment with too many clients along with the City. (2)

In 2006 Matt Lorenz and Associates company dedicated to Web page design, business consulting, and printing services, was approved for membership in the Better Business Bureau. To qualify for membership, companies had to meet or exceed standards for integrity, honesty, and customer service. (3)
