LINEHAN, Charles Matthias
LINEHAN, Charles Matthias. (Dubuque, IA, Nov. 4, 1876--Dubuque, IA, Oct. 29, 1930). One of the children of John J. LINEHAN, Charles attended the parochial schools of Dubuque and then entered the Christian Brothers' College at St. Louis., In addition to completing the academical and collegiate courses of that institution and receiving the degrees of Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts, he achieved the distinction as one of the foremost athletes of the school. Succeeding this, he entered the Medical Department of the University of Michigan, but completed his medical training at Rush Medical College, Chicago, from which he was graduated June 21, 1901.
Through successful competitive examination he was then appointed intern at St. Elizabeth Hospital, and served two years. He then returned to Dubuque to develop his profession. Dr. Linehan was a member of the Dubuque County Medical Society, the Jo Daviess (Illinois) County Medical Society, and the American Medical Association. He belonged to the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks, the Dubuque Club, the Golf Club, the DUBUQUE SHOOTING SOCIETY and several fraternal and insurance organizations of which, in many instances, he was a medical examiner. He served as city health physician of the city of Dubuque.
