LARGE, Rowena Guthrie. (Morgan County, OH--Unknown). A co-founder of the Northern Iowa Woman Suffrage Association, Rowena was married to William P. LARGE, a staunch Republican. She was forty-seven years old when she became a pioneer of women's voting rights. (1) In 1875 she served on the original board of the MOUNT PLEASANT HOME. (2)

In 1871 Large wrote:

It is not all pleasant to be ridiculed or have the cold
shoulder turned to us because we advocate unpopular
justice. Still harder is it to have motives of every
degree of baseness imputed to us as is done by the more
intolerant and malignant of our opponents. (3)
