KRAMER, Kenzie. (Dubuque, IA,-- ) A 2010 graduate of STEPHEN HEMPSTEAD HIGH SCHOOL and Drake University where she majored in magazine journalism, Kramer in 2018 was named one of about twenty recipients of the Challenge Detroit fellowship, a yearlong commitment to bettering the city.

Challenge Detroit was founded by Deirdre Groves. When the city's population plummeted in the 2000s and unemployment spiked, Groves and other Detroit natives launched the Challenge in 2012. Kramer and the others who received fellowships were employees of one of Challenge Detroit's partner businesses. They worked regular hours except on Friday when they met to undertake "challenge projects" to aid an initiative at the nonprofit.
