The first chapter of Korean veterans to organize in the United States. The organizational meeting called by Gene Digman, the Commander of the yet-to-be named-chapter, was held on May 19, 1953, at the Gerald Winters Post 9663 at the corner of Carter and Asbury roads.

Membership was limited to men who served in the Korean zone during the time following June 27, 1950, and who received other than a dishonorable discharge from military service. This included all Army, Navy, Air Force, and Marine personnel, who were entitled to wear the United Nations blue and white ribbon. Korvets, the name agreed upon, was affiliated with the Gerald Winters Post 9663 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
