KEATING, Mary Jo

KEATING, Mary Jo. (Ottumwa, IA-- ). Keating graduated from the St. Francis School of Nursing in Peoria, Illinois and worked in nursing for eleven years in Dubuque.nbKeating and her husband moved to Dubuque in 1965.

She applied for the executive director's position of Dubuque '76 Inc. to coordinate the city's bicentennial celebration. She was a finalist and when the person selected did not work out, she reapplied and was hired.

In 1976 Keating moved into the position of promotions director for the Dubuque Downtown Association and then became a marketing assistant at FIRST NATIONAL BANK OF DUBUQUE. She was later promoted to marketing officer.

After six years in banking, she starting Keating ink!, an advertising and public relations firm, originally called Creative Concepts in January 1984. Following the retirement of her husband from the JOHN DEERE DUBUQUE WORKS, the couple left Dubuque for warmer weather.
