KAISER, August. (Germany, Dec. 3, 1820--Dubuque, IA, October, 1881). Kaiser emigrated to America in December, 1847. Afterward he traveled to California, Australia, and Africa before arriving in New York in the spring of 1855. (1)

Kaiser came to Dubuque on December 4, 1855. After making arrangements to go into business, he went to Chicago and remained there until February 1, 1856, when he returned and began KAISER'S VINEGAR WORKS, the city's first vinegar business, on the corner of White and Sixth STREETS. He held the office of city alderman. (2)
