JENKEL, Frederick. (Mecklenburg, Germany, Mar. 31, 1831--Dubuque, IA, Nov. 25, 1883) Jenkel learned the trade of watchmaker and then emigrated to America in 1852. He came to Dubuque of the same year and worked at his trade for six years as an employee of others. He then opened his own business and continued to live in Dubuque except for three years spent in California.
