INTER-FRATERNAL BASEBALL LEAGUE
INTER-FRATERNAL BASEBALL LEAGUE. Started in 1934, the organization featured members of Dubuque's fraternal organizations playing in a baseball league dedicated to good fellowship and sports. The winner of the first year's contest were the KNIGHTS OF COLUMBUS who barely passed the members of the DUBUQUE CLUB.
Speaking at the first annual gathering, John W. CRETZMEYER urged the organization to be continued and expanded. It was his suggestion for teams to be organized around age with each organization participating have one team for younger and another for older players. It was announced that teams representing the Dubuque post of the American Legion and the Masonic fraternity were expected to be part of the league in 1935.
