HUMKE, Frederick Oliver
HUMKE, Frederick Oliver. (Dubuque County, IA, May 18, 1887--Unknown). Humke attended the rural schools of Dubuque and then farmed until 1906. In that year, he was hired to work in the ANDREW GALLIART grocery store for a year and the bakery of F. A. WITHERS for a second year.
At the end of these two employments, he formed a partnership with William Graessle and purchased a bakery which was operated as the GRAESSLE AND HUMKE bakery for seven years. At that time, Humke became the sole owner and the company name was changed to HUMKE'S SANITARY BAKERY. He was serving as president and manager of the company when it incorporated in 1923.
