In 1990 Holiday Inns Inc. announced that it was planning to end its lease on its Dodge Street twenty-eight year old 198-room motel in 1991. Holiday Inns Inc. was at the time being acquired by Bass PLC of Great Britain. The corporation was looking for another means of remaining active in the Dubuque market. (1)
