HEDLEY AND BROWN. According to the 1857-1858 Dubuque City Directory, this business was located along Nevada between 3rd and 5th. In 1899 John E. Hedley who was already operating a drug store, J. E. HEDLEY & COMPANY, at 940 Main opened a branch of his business with William K. Brown. This store was located at 298 Main.

The original store was closed after 1900; the Hedley & Brown store continued in business through January, 1908. (1) In 1910, Hedley sold out and Brown remained the owner of the store. W. K. BROWN sold the company to WILLIAM C. FOSSELMANN in 1911. (2)
