HAWKEYE GUN CLUB
HAWKEYE GUN CLUB. Another of the sporting organizations of the same type in Dubuque, the club announced in 1892 that it had a lease on Hooper's Island upon which a club house and necessary facilities would be erected. The officers included J. Strinsky, president; Albert Schreiber, vice-president; Otto Schill, secretary; John SAmith, treasurer; Edmund Baumhover, captain; Charles Brose, referee; and Walter Jones, scorer. (1)
In November, 1894 officials announced that they had obtained 750 pigeons for an "all day shoot" on Thanksgiving Day beginning at 9:00 a.m. (2)
