HARTMAN, John

HARTMAN, John. (Prussia, Mar. 9, 1849-- ). Hartman learned his furniture making trade in Prussia and emigrated to America in 1849. He came to Dubuque in 1850 and worked for Valentine HERANCOURT for four years.

He then entered business with Kley & Huber in a factory later occupied by the DUBUQUE FURNITURE AND BURIAL CASE COMPANY. Hartman was the foreman of the manufacturing department and also a stockholder and director in the company.
