HARRMANN, Terry. (Sullivan, IL, 1942- ). Harrmann came to Dubuque in 1975 and was soon involved in such civic projects as organizing the Crime Prevention Coalition and the Advertising Federation. He headed the DUBUQUE AREA CHAMBER OF COMMERCE Tourism and Visitor's Bureau when the dog track idea began. Harrmann successfully led campaigns that convinced Dubuque voters in 1984 to support greyhound racing and in August 1989, to support riverboat gambling.

A board member and former president of the Dubuque Racing Association, Harrmann served as communications and consumer director for INTERSTATE POWER COMPANY of Dubuque. In 1989 Harrmann was lobbied but declined to run for MAYOR of Dubuque. The position was held at the time by James BRADY who had said Harrmann was a candidate for whom he would step aside.
