GERMANIA HOUSE. The 1865 Dubuque City Directory listed Main between 3rd and 4th.
The 1867 Dubuque City Directory gave no address for this business although it was listed.
The 1868-69 and 1873-1874 Dubuque City Directory gave the address of this business as 53 Main.
The 1874-1875 Dubuque City Directory stated that this business was located at 317 Main.
The 1878-79 Dubuque City Directory listed the west side of Main between 3rd and 4th.
In 1880 a mention of the hotel in the Dubuque Herald announced that business was very good, proving that "a dollar per day house in the centre of the city, well-kept, is a paying investment. Arrangements are being made to screen every door and window, a comfort to guests other and more higher priced hotels cannot boast of in the fly season." (1)
