G. H. HAMMOND. A large grocery concern based on Hammond, Indiana with branches in Boston, Detroit and Chicago chose Dubuque as its general western headquarters in 1893. Representatives of the company expected there would be $3,000 spent on remodeling the southern half of the building Mehlhop and Son into a cold storage warehouse for meats and other provisions.
