FELLER, Adele
FELLER, Adele. (Dubuque, IA, Jan. 14, 1922--Dubuque, IA, May 31, 2012) The daughter of Oscar and Bertha (Heckmann) Herrman, Adele graduated from DUBUQUE SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL in 1939 and received her registered nurses degree in 1945 from the Cook County School of Nursing in Chicago.
Adele first worked at Cook County Hospital, then was a nursing instructor at The Finley Hospital School of Nursing in the 1950s. Adele was later employed by the DUBUQUE VISITING NURSE ASSOCIATION and finally served as a school nurse for Audubon, Marshall and Sageville schools, retiring in 1985.
She married John W. Feller on Oct. 27, 1951, in Iowa Falls; he preceded her in death in 1998.
Adele was an active member of the Bethany Volunteer Service Organization, Chapter IP PEO, Loras LAFF program and United Methodist Women-Susannah Wesley Circle. A life-long conservationist and bird-lover, she was a member of the Dubuque Audubon Society. She also was a member of the Dubuque Area Retired School Personnel Association.
