EIKAMP, Adam. (Watertown, SD, 1977-- ). In 2014 Eikamp received a $150,000 commission to create a painted relief/sculpture for the University of Iowa's newest residence hall.
The 25-foot wood and resin piece mounted on a wall will rise and fall showing the flow of the educational process. The design was inspired by a quotation from Martin Luther King," Intelligence plus character--That is the goal of education." The sculpture will be back-lit by a computer-operated LED system changing from "warm" colors to represent character to "cool" colors to suggest intelligence. Installation was expected to begin in April 2015. The sculpture will be viewed from several angles and elevations.
Eikamp Arts LLC was established in 2007 at 1260 Alta Vista.
