EAGLES CLUB
EAGLES CLUB. On December 6, 1903 the Dubuque Aerie 568 of the Fraternal Order of Eagles was founded--five years after the first Eagles Club was established in 1898. The club was first located at the Eagles Hall on Locust Street. In 1970 the club relocated to 1175 Century Drive.
Following their motto "People Helping People," the Eagles distributed over $120,814 to local charities in ten years ending in 2003. Fundraisers included Friday night fish fries and charity breakfasts to auctions and sports tournaments. In 2003, according to the national club management director, the Dubuque club ranked in the top ten percent of the 1700 aeries in the United States for community involvement, ritual, and leadership in the state and region.
The 1937 Dubuque Consurvey Directory listed the southeast corner of 6th and Locust.
The 1939 through 1968 Dubuque City Directory listed 280 W. 6th.
