DUBUQUE EVENING JOURNAL. Established around 1891, the paper enjoyed steady growth due, in part, to its use of the Associated Press service for stories. On May 1, 1894 the paper announced that on June 1, 1894 it would reduce its monthly cost to twenty-five cents for home delivery or by mail. For the month between May 1 and June 1, the paper would charge new subscribers fifteen cents.
